Disertante: Dr. Christopher Hales, del National Radio Astronomy Observatory, EEUU

Título: Magnetic fields in elliptical galaxies, and the Next Generation Very Large Array

Resumen: This talk will address two loosely-connected topics.  In Part 1, I will discuss recent work regarding galactic magnetic fields and dynamo theory.
I will highlight the need for observations of magnetic fields in
elliptical galaxies to provide unambiguous confirmation of fluctuation
dynamos in a galactic environment.  In Part 2, I will present an overview
of the proposed Next Generation Very Large Array radio telescope.  I will
discuss key science goals, technical details, and the path ahead to
completion.
