$a The scientific research on gravitation, relativistic astrophysics and cosmology, both in Argentine and in Brazil, has undoubtedly reached a high level of development and importance. Notwithstanding, despite their geographic proximity, the scientific communities of these two countries have not yet interacted as much as it would have been expected to. To stimulate the collaboration between researchers of both countries, the First Argentine-Brazilian Meeting on Gravitation, Relativistic Astrophysics and Cosmology (GrACo) was held at the tri-border city of Foz de Iguacu, situated on the Brazilian state of Paraná, from October 4 to 8, 2011. This conference covered a broad spectrum of topics going from theoretical aspects of gravitational theories and cosmology, phenomenology of astrophysical systems, to experimental projects related to the cosmic microwave background and gravitational waves. Invited speakers were chosen by a bi-national scientific committee in order to disseminate ideas and open the debate on this wide range of topics.Contributed papers by the participants were also encouraged, in order to get a fair picture of the research areas in the region. The present volume contains the set of invited lectures and contributed papers presented at the meeting. The contents of these papers is a confirmation of the highlevel of research developed in both communities. These proceedings represent an effort to promote and improve the collaboration between research groups from both countries in the areas of the meeting. It is our hope that both the meeting and the proceedings would boost joint research programs and accelerate their scientific development of both countries in the near future. |
