Coloquio: Technology Development at NRAO’s Central Development Laboratory
9 de abril – 13:30 horas
Expositor: Dr. Bert Hawkins – Central Development Laboratory, National Radio Astronomy Observatory (NRAO), USA.
Resumen: NRAO’s Central Development Laboratory (CDL) is responsible for instrumentation technology development at the Observatory and is the largest laboratory in the US dedicated to radio astronomy. The CDL has been the focus of renewal and growth recently as NRAO is taking on several large new projects. These projects include technology development for the next generation VLA (ngVLA), the next generation Radar (ngRADAR), the ALMA Band 6 second generation receiver (ALMA Band 6v2), development of technology to support NSF’s National Radio Dynamic Zone initiative, including direction-finding spectrum monitors from 1 to 50 GHz and superconducting notch filters to protect radio receiver front ends. In this talk, details will be provided on these and other instrumentation development efforts at CDL and the projects they support.
