Resumen: Recent years have seen a surge in the interest in quantum technologies in connection with a «Second Quantum Revolution» that is expected to affect multiple research and technology sectors. In this talk, I will review the physical concepts underpinning these developments, and provide an overview of different technology sectors that we expect will be impacted in the short, medium, and long term, from telecommunications to health devices. The talk is aimed at a broad audience so as to foster a debate on potential applications of these technologies in the research areas of IAR.
