Evolution of accreting binaries, towards the merging of compact objects

Dr. Sylvain Chaty – Université Paris Diderot, Francia

Resumen:
The detection of gravitational waves coming from the merging of binary black holes has revealed that an accurate understanding of the evolution of binary (or multiple) systems was of prime importance. In this seminar I will review the various types of accreting binaries, give details on the observables we have in hand concerning their evolution, and the fundamental ingredients of their evolution (such as common phase, natal kick, winds and metallicity) that are still characterized by a high level of uncertainty.
